Ray Of Sunshine

ree

In the corner of my Heart, there's a shadowed place.

A memory of a man whose smile I cant replace.

Ray sent pokes reaching forty five

In his gentle presence I felt so alive.

But whispers of darkness crept into his mind.

A Battle within that was cruel and unkind.

I watched as he struggled not fully aware of the Demons

He fought, hiding his despair.

Hoping to save him from his Nightmare.

I held him close to my Heart, but it wasn't enough.

For the grip of addiction can be merciless and tough.

The Night he slipped away, I was unaware asleep in my Bed

without my Ray of Sunshine.

Did my love not anchor, did my kindness not show?

Was there more that I missed, that I failed to know?

I carry the weight of a Heart left behind,

With whispers of quilt that unweave my mind.

Oh my Ray of Sunshine, you were lost to the night,

The flicker of hope turned to sorrowful light.

In the depths of my soul, your memory will stay,

Forever entwined in my love that wont fade away.

Ray, may you find peace above,

In the echoes of laughter, in the remnants of early love

Ill cherish your spirit, your joy, ill embrace,

And carry your memory, though time can't replace.

Tears flow everyday for my Ray

whom supported and encouraged my path to heal.

I'm forever grateful for the gift of Ray.

RIP Raymond Devost
